Offices for visionaries: Innovative workplaces were created from outdated spaces
The winners of the prestigious LD Seating category in the Interior of the Year Awards are Studio Archstyl and Studio WooW. The architects managed to renovate an old office building from the 1990s and transform it into modern, bright, and functional workspaces. Their creative approach to renovation and innovative solutions secured the project a well-deserved first place in the prestigious competition.
Modern Working Environment: A Need and a Trend
Creating comfortable and presentable workspaces is becoming one of the top priorities for many companies. Offices today are not only places to work but also spaces that influence corporate culture and identity. The prestigious Interior of the Year award, which features its own LD Seating category for office design, underscores the growing importance of interior design in the corporate world.
Prestigious Award for Slovak Architects
In the latest edition of the competition, as many as 34 projects vied for the top spot in the category dedicated to office interiors. Studio Archstyl and Studio WooW emerged victorious, demonstrating that even outdated spaces can be transformed into modern and inspiring workplaces.
Transforming Space: From Dark Corridors to Bright Offices
The new office space of Studio Archstyl and CGI Studio WooW is located in Bratislava in a building dating back to the 1990s. The need to move to larger premises was driven by the growth in staff numbers. Prior to the renovation, the workspaces were separated by dark, windowless corridors, creating an inefficient environment.
The architects retained the three-tract concept but significantly modified it. They removed the existing partitions and replaced them with glass walls complemented by sliding curtains. This created a more open and free feeling within the interior, allowing for better illumination and visual connectivity.
Functional and Aesthetic Solutions
The new office spaces are arranged on both sides of the interior. The center features a smaller meeting room, storage areas, desks, and a utility room. A larger meeting room is situated in the southern wing. The interior exudes an industrial character, with white plywood and light spruce solids, exposed cabling, and HVAC systems. Acoustic panels have been strategically placed above workstations to ensure good acoustics.
Comfort for Employees and Clients
When designing the premises, the comfort of employees and clients alike was prioritized. Glass partitions allow clients to observe office activities during consultations, while curtains provide necessary privacy for more sensitive meetings.
An Exceptional Project
The project stands out not only for its design but also because the architects designed the space for their own use. Their innovative approach to renovating an old office space rightfully earned them the top prize in the prestigious Interior of the Year competition
